About the CPD 活動簡述 

 

 

As a unique historical and cultural landscape in the city, Hong Kong Cemetery not only have a rich historical background and beautiful natural environment, but also carry the wisdom of life and educational significance. The graves here are not only resting places, but also witnessing Hong Kong’s development into a major international commercial hub and a platform for dissemination of culture.

 

During the guided tour, the forms and meanings of Chinese and Western funeral traditions will be explored, which illuminates philosophies of life encapsulated in the tombs and inscriptions.

 

Strolling under the shade of the trees and feeling the peaceful atmosphere, this guided tour will not only be an inspection of history and culture, but also a reflection on the meaning of life. Together, we will learn how to cherish life and respect history.

 

香港墳場作為城市中獨特的歷史文化景觀,不僅擁有豐富的歷史背景和美麗的自然環境,還承載著生命的智慧與教育的意義。這裡的墳墓不僅是安息之地,更是見證香港發展為國際商埠和文化傳播的平台。

 

導賞過程中將探索中西文殯葬傳統的形式與意義,包括從墓塋與碑刻,透析背後的生命哲學。

 

漫步於樹蔭下,感受寧靜的氛圍,這趟導賞之旅將不僅是一段歷史與文化的考察,更是一個反思生命意義。參與者將在這裡學習到如何珍惜生命、尊重歷史。

 

 

 

About the Speaker 主講人介紹

 

 

Dr. Billy TANG Ka Jau 鄧家宙博士

 

Dr Billy TANG Ka Jau is a doctorate from New Asia Institute of Advanced Chinese Studies, Director of Society of Hong Kong History, and a part-time university lecturer. He is specialized in Buddhism history, ethnic customs and religious beliefs, Hong Kong history and epigraphic documents, etc. His publications have received awards at the 11th Hong Kong Bookprize and the 29th The Hong Kong Print Awards.

 

鄧家宙博士為香港新亞研究所博士,香港史學會理事,兼任大學講師。專志佛教史及信俗文化、香港歷史及金石文獻等,著有《香港華籍名人墓銘集:港島篇》、《香港佛教史》、《百善義為先:東華義莊一百二十周年史略》、《香港鍾氏源流調查報告》、《香港非物質文化遺產:涼茶》、《觀音山凌雲寺志》等逾三十種。著作曾膺獲第十一屆香港書獎及第二十九屆香港印製大獎之優秀出版大獎(最佳出版意念)。

If the Hong Kong Observatory issues an Amber Rainstorm Warning, or Typhoon Signal No. 3 or above, HKICON will notify registered participants via email regarding cancellation of the event and arrangement for rescheduling or a refund at least 2 hours before the scheduled event time.If the weather deteriorates after the field trip has started, HKICON reserves the right to amend the itinerary.
