About the CPD

Prior to moving to Canada, Dr. Cummer was the Founding Director of the BA(Conservation) Degree offered by the Architectural Conservation Programmes (ACP) at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and a Lecturer for the MSc(Conservation) and PDip(Conservation) for many years. She has returned to visit Hong Kong and is excited to share her reflections on the Canadian conservation field in comparison to the Hong Kong context (which she misses immensely!). Canadian Conservation best practice will be outlined, with a case study example of the theory in practice, followed by a candid sharing of some of the challenges facing the field in North America. International best practice will also be discussed based on Dr. Cummer’s experience at the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) in Rome last year. She looks forward to sharing her reflections and insight from her time away from Asia.
