About the CPD

Initiated by the Hong Kong International Photo Festival (HKIPF), the former Chuen Lung Koon Man School has recently been repurposed into Koon Man Space for learning, exchanges, and experimentations on contemporary photography. Koon Man Space now serves as a communal space to strengthen relationships, generate conversations and vitality from within the scenic village of Chuen Lung.

This site visit aims to explore the synergies and challenges of adaptively reusing historic buildings to provide opportunities for art and cultural organizations. We will hear from representatives of HKIPF  who have undertaken such a project, as well as heritage conservation consultant, to understand the process from initial concept to exhibition design, as well as the technical considerations of heritage preservation. Through this knowledge sharing, we hope to identify ways that historic buildings can be leveraged to support contemporary arts and culture programming.
