About the CPD Talk:

In 2020, Bob Pang led a team of modern architecture enthusiasts and professionals in kick-starting the research on a not-much-known chapter of architectural design history of Hong Kong – Brutalism. The research project was initially funded by Design Trust Hong Kong and the project was presented to public through an exhibition ““BRUTAL! – Unknown Brutalism Architecture in Hong Kong” in 2021. After the exhibition, the team integrated and transferred 15 found case studies to Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) the Frankfurt Architecture Museum, Germany. The materials were further reviewed by the lead curator, Oliver Elser and uploaded to the “SOS Brutalism” online database for access by scholars around the world. In addition, the team also participated in various public sharing sessions, such as HKIA Journal Symposium, PMQ DeTour Design Festival seminars, and interviews with Metro Radio’s “Reading City” program, etc. Recently, The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) honoured a Special Architectural Award – Curation & Exhibition Design Award to the team which affirmed the importance of their research.  The speakers will share their findings, insights and views on Brutalist architecture in Hong Kong.
