About the CPD Talk
The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation set standards that are meant to be inspirational, however, inspiration takes you nowhere if you are not competent. Aligning the Heritage Awards standards with UNESCO’s newly published Competence Framework for Cultural Heritage Management, UNESCO will introduce what the framework entails and talk about implications for how the heritage profession would have to evolve towards. The two panels will discuss the supply and demand of heritage competences in Hong Kong SAR, China. What are the ways to close the gaps? The UNESCO Sustainable Heritage Management Course will be introduced as a regional precursor to this change, together with various educational programmes in Hong Kong, SAR and other places to think about how curriculums can be updated.
