About the CPD Talk
This presentation will use contemporary documents to explore the history and politics of providing a fresh water supply to Kowloon, along with the technical solutions developed by engineers to meet that goal and their lasting legacy.
About the Speaker
Mr. Tymon Mellor
Tymon is a civil engineer with a focus on major projects. After working on the Channel Tunnel project connecting the UK with Europe, he arrived in Hong Kong in 1993 to work on the new airport at Chek Lap Kok, before moving onto the expansion of the railway network. These projects raised his interest in industrial history and documenting the great engineering achievement of previous generations.
He writes regular articles for the Industrial History of Hong Kong web site and runs his own site, hkmaps documenting the development of the Territories maps.
