About the Site Visit
Revitalization of Staunton Street/Shing Wong Street Neighbourhood Project (“the Project”) aims to rejuvenate the 9 tenement buildings built between 1948-1959 acquired by the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) (formerly known as “H19” redevelopment project). Through-community making approach and building rehabilitation measures with its neighbourhood, the project transformed the area into a harmonious built environment for sustainable community. The project renovated a graded 2 historical building located at Staunton Street 88-90 and other low- rise tenant buildings with new initiatives being implemented that responded neighbourhood’s aspiration.
About the Speakers
Ms. Fanny Ang
Fanny Ang is a conservation architect and the founding director of ANG Studio Ltd., having over 15 years’ experience in architectural conservation in Hong Kong. Her past revitalisation projects include the award-winning Restoration of Duddell Street (HKIA Special Architectural Award – Heritage and Adaptive Reuse in 2019 and HKICON Conservation Awards – Special Mention (Restoration Category) in 2020, Revitalization of Blue House Cluster in Wan Chai (HKIA Medal of the Year of Hong Kong and Special Architectural Award – Heritage and Adaptive Reuse in 2018, and 2017 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Conservation Award, Award of Excellence), and the Conversion of the Old Supreme Court into the Court of Final Appeal (HKIA Medal of the Year of Hong Kong and Special Architectural Award – Heritage and Adaptive Reuse in 2015). URA H19 project has recently been completed with Fanny as the heritage consultant for 88 – 90 Staunton Street, a grade 2 historic shophouse.
Mr. Joseph Hui
Joseph Hui is a registered architect and Authorized Person (AP) currently working for URA over 10 years. Joseph has over 15 years’ experience in architectural and construction industry specialized in residential/commercial/revitalization projects in URA. Other heritage conservation projects such as No. 120 Wellington Street for H18 redevelopment in Graham Street/Gage Street and H19 Staunton Street/Wing Lee Street, as well as revitalization to H6 CONET were some of his involvements in URA’s project portfolio.
