About Our Guest of Honour
Professor Miles Glendinning
Professor Miles Glendinning studied Classics at King’s College, Cambridge, followed by a MA in architectural history at UEA Norwich. After working in the architectural field survey department of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland from 1978-2005, he moved to Edinburgh College of Art to head the Scottish Centre for Conservation Studies. Since 2011, he has held the chair of Architectural Conservation at the University of Edinburgh. His research focuses on the architecture of the 20th and early 21st centuries, particularly mass housing, and he is actively involved with DOCOMOMO, the international network for the documentation and conservation of the Modern Movement. His new book, Hong Kong Public Housing – an Architectural and Policy History, was published by Routledge earlier this year.
